Grow Your Own Mushrooms

Come join Lauren Healey at Old Stone Farm for a workshop where you will create your own 5- gallon bucket mushroom growing haven! Using the simple materials of straw, mushroom spawn, and a 5-gallon bucket we will create a mini-mushroom farm for oyster mushrooms. Be prepared to get messy! Make this program more eco-friendly by bringing your own 5-gallon bucket, but all supplies (including extra buckets) will be provided.

Lauren Healey is a Newburyport native with a life long love of the outdoors and nurturing the things that grow there.  As a graduate of UMass Amherst with a degree in Natural Resources Conservation, Lauren had the opportunity to take a mushroom course which first introduced her to mushroom growing.  Since then, she has enjoyed experimenting with mushroom growing techniques and is excited to share her experience with others!
